How Many BTU’s Do I Need For An Air Conditioner?

Well i have an air conditioner in my apartment i have 2 rooms and 1 bathroom all in a studio. all one room. I have this air conditioner set at 64 gets to like 75 when the windows are shut. Now is this powerful enough i got a whirlpool air conditioner and not sure if it’s really powerful enough, i have about 20 foot high celings. Now how can i tell how many btu’s my current one has? i need one to fit a frame 25 1/2 long and 14 1/2 inches high. cause it’s fit into the wall. The one air conditioner we had a few days ago died, and that one was like twice as big, so maybe i need a bigger one?? It’s included in the rent, so they should replace it with one that actually cools my place. I DK it’s so annoying. I am not sure what i need.

You need to figure the square footage of the room.
Length, width and height all have to figure in.
Once you know the square footage, go to a dealer (let the dealer figure the square footage, that is what I do, just tell give him/her the figures I mentioned above) and ask which unit is necessary for this room.
Also figure in a few extra BTU’s if the room is drafty or poorly insulated or at least let the sales person know that.
They may also be able to save you money with suggestions on how to better use the unit or stop drafts and such.
I would shop around at three or more places before buying though because prices vary as much as $200.00 on a larger unit depending on where you go.
