    To run the A/C, you need a heat pump anyway. You may as well use it for central heat. You’d also need only one thermostat. The only decision is do you want gas or electric.

    Depends where you live. If you are in the North then I would leave them separate. If you are in the South you can get away with using a heat pump for heating and cooling. If you are somewhere in the middle of the country you need to determine how many days a year are below 30 F. Heat pumps don’t heat worth beans when the temperature gets down in the 20s.

    It depends on your climate. However, a boiler that runs hot water radiators is THE BEST type of heat. It is not true that you have to buy a heat pump for central air. They do make electric central air that has nothing to do w/ heat pumps or the heating system.
