IF YOU ARE SURE THAT THE SYSTEM HAS ENOUGH FREON,I WOULD CHECK THE A/C MAGNETIC CLUTCH RELAY.IT IS LOCATED ON THE FUSE BOX LOCATED INSIDE THE HOOD COMPARTMENT ON THE DRIVER’S SIDE.LOOK IN THE INNER PART OF THE FUSE BOX LID TO SEE WHICH RELAY IS MARKED AS (MG/CLT).A GOOD WAY TO CHECK IF THIS IS THE PROBLEM FOR FREE IS TO SWAP IT WITH THE (HORN)RELAY LOCATED IN THE SAME FUSE BOX.THERE IS AN UPGRADE TO THIS RELAY SOLD AT ALL TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS.IT IS ALSO COVERED UNDER WARRANTY FOR 3 YEARS/36000 MILES.GOOD LUCK.

well you need to see if ya got any freeon inside the corolla that year are known to bust the condenser and leak

Sounds like your AC is working ok, but it just probably needs to be re charged. They Sell AC re charger kits at checkers or any auto stores out there. Its pretty easy to do this yourself, but if not you can see if someone you know that can do it for you.

Also another thing you can check is your AC Filter that is located behind your glove box. Check that and see if that needs to be replaced.

no insult intended…just to check, what setting is the temperature set at with the rotary temp dial and is the system set to either defroster setting?

All Toyotas link the air conditioning compressor to the defroster and the system will pump out dry air.

Run a fan over the dry air and it’s cool, use the heat from the engine heat pumps and it’s warm.

It might be the air conditioning system has a leak and your refrigerant is leaking or leaked out.

However, it is a waste of money to add more refrigerant to a leaking system. It will simply leak out again.

Your 2005 Corolla has a 3/36 warranty on it. If you bought it new, what is the date on your purchase contract (date the Corolla was first titled)? And how many miles are on it?

If your Corolla was titled less than 36 months and you have less than 36,000 miles (Toyota is more flexible with the miles than the time frame), definitely take it in to your local dealership.

You may not get everything covered by Toyota if there is a problem, but you will have nothing covered if you go to an independent repair shop and then you’ll have to go through the hassle of sending the repair papers in to see what will be covered.

Also check to make sure you even have refrigerant in your cooling system. That’s generally the biggest problem

Your compressor needs gas (not gasoline, gas for the air to blow cold). Go to a mechanic or to a Auto Zone or something like that and they can fill it up. And if it is low on that gas, it might have a hole somewhere so better fix that too.

You need to make sure the blend door is diverting air over your A/C coils and not the heater core.

This door is operated by cable or vacuum. If it’s a cable the temp control is changed by a lever that slides sideways between hot and cold. If it’s pushbutton or a dial, probably vacuum.

The control cable or diaphragm is located in the ducting under the dash toward the passenger side.
