Automotive Air Condition Courses

ok so I would like to be a auto mechanic… but?
I don’t have any experience working on cars the community college I go to however has a program that teaches you to repair and maintain brake systems, steering, suspension, manuel and automatic transmissions, automotive heating and air conditioning, electrical systems and engine repair. the course is two years long I was wondering if after I complete that course and get my occupational certificate can I take the ASE certification exams right out of the program and also will I be able to find a job fairly easily?? I live in fl if that makes a difference… any other information you have for me would be great… also if your are or have been a mechanic did you like it as a career?
Thanks in advance
as long as you feel confident enough to take the ASE certification exams out of the program, then yes you could, keep in mind that its expensive and you can only take it so many times and that you have to keep taking the exams throughout your career.
I know people who love it and i know people who want to drive their car into a brick wall rather than go to work, it really depends on your level of devotion and passion for cars. I know that i would get tired of it after a while, i love working on cars and motorcycles but if i had to do it for a job i think i would really start to hate it.
Its really all up to what you think is best for you. Master Tech is what youll really strive to be and thats where you make a good living, but if youre looking to make good money right out of college, i dont think that will happen, you kind of have to prove yourself before you can start getting good pay, then again there are rare instances where you get a REALLY lucky deal and it works out great.
