Plz help new freshwater aquarium?
I bought an aquarium kit 10 gallons yesterday and additional equipment Petco yesterday. (I would bought a larger tank, but my dorm does not tank over10 gallon) Currently, I have the following: -10 gallon Hood with light bulb, 50 watts of heating, air pump set, Whisper 10 Power Filter (90 gal / h), 10 lb fishing nets, gravel I never have an aquarium in the past, but I read many guides before setting up the one I bought yesterday. However, I few more questions. 1) I wonder if my configuration is allowed or not. Also, I want to know what other equipment do I need to buy. (Note: I have no condition, or test etc.. The fabrics that I listed above are all the animals I had.) 2) I not a plant or other decorations in the right tank, but I'm getting ready to buy when I buy fish next Monday. Can I put fish in the tank right after placing the plants or decorative? 3) How much air should I leave in the tank?
1.) Preparing Your tank is a fine tank: * Setup everything wash in cold water, including reservoir itself, cartridge filter and in particular the gravel, your water heater must be washed with warm water but not hot * Put everything in your tank, Fill the tank with water, turn on your filter and your water heater (78 degrees) What you need to get about two days after the installation * Ammonia, pH and nitrite test kit * Aqua Safe (water conditioner) * * Real * Siphon Gravel plants maybe some decorations if you want them (but remember that you have to wash them before putting them in) * not necessary, but very useful, a timer (you leave your light for 10-12 hours during the day and 12-14 hours outside at night) * a couple of zebra danios (they are the fish that you start your cycle with) * Food for your danios Some info on the bike with a fish tank http://www.firsttankguide.net/cycle.php Check http://www.firsttankguide.net/cloudywater.php your water regularly, and after your tank is fully recycled, which means no more nitrite in your tank, you can start Add more fish to You also do weekly partial waterchanges 25% with a gravel trap Do not overfeed your fish, only to the amount of food they eat in 3-5 minutes at a time so do not put yout tank near a window where the sun can get to eat, because this will cause algae growth Whenever you buy fish, you float the bag with the fish for at least 30 minutes in your tank that your fish can adjust to the temperature of the water Hope that helps Good luck and have fun EB
